That's me, Rich, in the photograph on the book cover. And no, I'm not the horse; I'm the person on the right.
Trust me: I sympathize with you and your family for the nightmare you are going through. Life for my family and me was so absolutely horrendous at one time, law enforcement was involved.
When you or your loved one was given a diagnosis of schizophrenia, you were hopeful that there was a cure.
Sadly, there is no cure…
Not yet.
But we hope soon.
Schizophrenia is a mental disorder in which you or your loved one's symptoms can be treated.
It is possible for a patient to receive treatment and live on their own and have a career, family, friends, and other things and enjoy a satisfying life.
Life got very interesting for my family and me when I had a major break from reality at only twenty years old. Being one hundred percent convinced of things that were not reality, I was diagnosed with the dire and absolutely dreadful condition called schizophrenia.
I felt hopeless. I felt miserable. I thought the future was unpromising. I had absolutely zero motivation. Life was completely and utterly impossible. To me, everything in the entire world was absolutely hopeless.
Once, I came extremely close to committing suicide. I have our Creator to thank for me not doing so.
Diagnosed with schizophrenia? You are probably just like me… You have dreams, goals, feelings, and wants and needs.
Fortunately, I educated myself about my illness once I realized I suffered from it.
I am very lucky: I survived schizophrenia. I am extremely happy and grateful today. I am lucky and fortunate enough to be employed full-time and to write books part-time. For years, I have not received government disability and government disability medical benefits.
